Job description
We are currently working on an exciting opportunity for a highly creative and commercially minded Womenswear Outerwear Designer. Our client, a well-established and respected womenswear supplier to some of the UK's leading high street retailers, is looking for an experienced designer to join their team and take ownership of formal outerwear from day one.
This role would suit someone with strong trend awareness, a great eye for product, and the confidence to design within a fast-paced, high-volume supplier environment. You'll be someone who genuinely lives and breathes fashion, with a strong sense of personal style and the ability to translate key trends into commercially successful outerwear collections for the UK high street.
Working as part of a busy design team, you will play a key role in developing trend-led outerwear ranges, from initial concept through to final product, collaborating closely with internal teams and retail partners.
Main Responsibilities Will Include:
Designing trend-led, commercially focused womenswear outerwear, across both formal and casual categories
Developing seasonal ranges tailored to key UK high street retailers and their customer profiles
Conducting in-depth trend research and translating insights into commercially viable product
Working closely with sales, technical and product development teams to take designs from concept through to production
Presenting ideas, concepts and collections confidently to both internal teams and external retail clients
Monitoring global trends across fabric, colour, silhouette and styling to ensure ranges remain fresh and competitive
Supporting and managing the sampling process where required, ensuring product meets both design and commercial expectations
Attending and contributing to client meetings, demonstrating strong product knowledge and creative direction
Person Specification:
Proven experience designing womenswear outerwear (formal), ideally within a supplier environment
Strong commercial awareness and ability to interpret trends for the UK high street market
Confident communicator with experience presenting to buyers or working closely with retail customers
Highly organised and able to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
A proactive, hands-on designer who can work independently, take initiative and hit the ground running
