Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a specialist cycling brand as a Product Developer, based in London. Working closely with Design, Sample Room and Merchandising, you will support the end-to-end product development process, delivering compelling performance-led product with the consumer, quality and cost front of mind.

You will take ownership of apparel development using strong product engineering skills, ensuring each style is developed in line with the seasonal calendar, margin targets and brand standards, while building trusted relationships with Asia counterparts and vendor partners.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive tech packs and BOMs to clearly communicate design, fit and construction requirements across the supply chain
  • Partnering with in-house sampling and Design to refine concepts prior to vendor engagement, and managing associated data files, taxonomy and product data accuracy
  • Leading fit sessions and providing clear technical feedback and solutions to achieve the product brief and creative intent
  • Analysing and managing product cost through feasibility assessments, pre-costing and review of prototype cost breakdowns, proposing cost-saving solutions to meet margin targets
  • Delivering projects on time by meeting key stage gates and deadlines within the seasonal calendar, driving accountability across stakeholders
  • Working closely with Asia counterparts to streamline development processes and support close-to-source decision making
  • Building strong vendor relationships, understanding capability, negotiating costs and preserving design intent through development
  • Partnering with QA and materials teams to support risk assessments, quality feedback loops, consistency checks and trims development for NPD styles

Person specification:

  • Strong experience in product development within cycling, active, lifestyle or performance apparel
  • High level of attention to detail with strong technical knowledge of garment and fabric construction, particularly performance product
  • Confident leading fit sessions and communicating clear, concise technical direction to internal teams and vendors
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance creativity and cost, supported by strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Excel and Outlook; PLM experience is an advantage
