Everyone needs a break from their weekly work routine to invigorate and rejuvenate. Stepping out of your comfort zone by doing something different can be exhilarating… and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune! Who knows, you could discover an exciting new hobby or develop a love for a destination that you’d never even considered visiting before!

Don’t just lie by the pool this summer, try something new! Whether your budget is big or small, destination home or away, here are some ideas to kick-start your imagination.

1. Get Active

Embarking on a kayaking trip is an exciting adventure, whether you're gliding through tranquil lake waters or battling currents in the sea.

How about adopting the cool, surfer lifestyle for a week or two? There are lots of beginner spots for surfing within Europe or if you fancy going all out, why not venture to California, Hawaii or Morocco!

General water sports like wind-surfing and kite-surfing are usually available on any commercial beach resort, hence they have the potential to be a thrilling add-on to your holiday.

Have you ever thought about hiking or trekking? Regardless of your fitness, there will always be a trail to suit you.

If you’re on a minimal budget, most of these activities can be done on home turf for free or for a reasonable price!!

2. Volunteer

There are hundreds of opportunities to volunteer with animals across the globe, be it rehabilitating orangutans, looking after rescued elephants or being part of various conservation projects.

Make a difference to the lives of others by volunteering within a community at home or abroad. Perhaps teach, or help with the construction of a community-based project. The brilliant thing about volunteering, apart from being personally rewarding, is that it can enhance your employability and help to accelerate your career.

3. Join an Organised Trip or Tour

Are you a lone wolf by nature? Or have you recently split up with your partner and now looking for a holiday regardless? Why not try an organised tour to explore an exciting new place with a bunch of like-minded travellers eager for adventure? It is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and immerse yourself in a different culture or environment.

However, if you prefer a smaller crowd, have a look at trusted travel forums, where you can find
other individuals heading to the same destination as you.
