New Me

Why 2017 is the perfect time to start a new job?

Many people may be happy to wave goodbye to 2016, and many will be hopeful to finding out what the new year will hold. 2017 means a fresh start for everyone and so, like every year we begin making new years’ resolution; start the diet, join the gym, get organised, get a new job (whether we stick to them is a whole other story).

If there was ever a time to take matters into your own hands its now. The first week back in the new year, breaking out of that Christmas food coma and its back to work you go. For the lucky ones, you’ll go back to a job you love and raring to go. For others, you’re going back to that all too familiar job and you won’t leave it because you are scared of what the future holds or that you would simply feel lost if you weren’t where you are now. It’s time to be brave and be bold this 2017, take the plunge. If you are unhappy your job, then now the could be the time to make the change you’ve been thinking about but too scared to take. Statistics show that three out of five people are on the hunt for a new job this January.

Be proactive, “find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life," said Mark Twain. Although, that's easier said than done, careful planning is the key to success.

Consider the following before taking your next steps:

  • Firstly, make sure you are ready

  • Know what you want

  • Create a powerful communication strategy

  • Project a professional image

  • Use the most effective job search strategies

  • Convey your true value at interviews

  • Know what you are worth
