Job description

We have a brilliant opportunity to join an established global womenswear retailer with a strong brand identity and international sourcing capability.

They are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to take full end-to-end ownership of the Evening Dresses category, developing commercially strong, on-brand ranges that deliver sustainable growth.
Based in Australia they are looking for someone incredibly trend lead who can work collaboratively with Merchandisers and Designers.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the Evening Dresses category end to end, from range strategy through to bulk approval and delivery
  • Partnering with Design, QA and Production to develop on-brand, commercially strong product
  • Building balanced ranges with the right mix of fashion, volume, price architecture and profitability
  • Managing product development from concept to bulk approval, ensuring quality, fit and brand standards are achieved
  • Monitoring critical path and production timelines to ensure on-time delivery
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure optimal cost prices, margins and lead times
  • Analysing sales performance, market activity and trend data to inform trading decisions and future range direction
  • Identifying opportunities to maximise sales, margin and speed to market
  • Proactively managing risk, resolving issues and driving continuous improvement across ways of working

Person specifications:

  • Previous experience as a Buyer within fashion retail environment ideally buying evening or formal dresses
  • Strong knowledge of fabrications and garment construction
  • Experience working across international sourcing markets
  • Confident managing supplier relationships, negotiations and production timelines
  • Highly organised, results-driven and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Collaborative team player with a positive, entrepreneurial approach
