Job description
We are looking for a Junior Womenswear Jersey Designer to join a highly successful fashion supplier working with major high street retailers. Ideally, you will have some exposure to print and graphic design, with a passion for developing creative artwork alongside product design.
Based in London, this is a fantastic opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic individual at the early stages of their career. You will support the design team in creating trend-led womenswear jersey pieces, working across multi-product ranges for a number of well-known retailers. We are looking for someone who is motivated, positive, and eager to learn.. A strong interest in print, graphics, and trend research is highly desirable, with the opportunity to develop these skills further within the role.
This role offers hybrid working.
Main Responsibilities will include:
- Support the design and development of womenswear jersey ranges, assisting with research into key trends, shapes, and fabrics.
- Contribute to the creation of prints, graphics, and artworks, supporting the wider design team.
- Assist in developing design concepts through trend research and inspiration.
- Help create CADs and assist with the preparation of technical packs.
- Support in building ranges in line with customer brand DNA and requirements.
- Assist in preparing presentations for Buyers, including trend and concept boards.
- Work closely with internal teams, including production, to support the development process.
- Liaise with factories where required, supporting with design details, fabrics, trims, and artwork.
Person Specification:
- Previous experience within womenswear design, ideally with a focus on jersey.
- A basic understanding of jersey fabrics and garment construction.
- Proficiency in Illustrator and Photoshop, with the ability to create CADs and an interest in print/graphic design.
- A strong eye for trend, colour, and detail.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, and keen to learn and develop within a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Organised with the ability to manage time and work to deadlines.
