Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing, design-led fashion company who are seeking a Junior Designer to work across Girlswear 9-15 years in both woven and jersey categories, supplying large-volume retailers and supermarkets.


This is a brilliant opportunity for a designer with at least 2 years' industry experience who is looking to further develop their skills in a fast-paced, commercially focused environment. You will work closely with the Senior Designer creating trend-led, high-volume product from concept through to sample stage.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the design team with the development of commercially relevant girlswear product across both woven and jersey categories for high-volume retailers and supermarkets.
  • Assisting with seasonal catwalk and trend research, keeping the team up to date with key themes, colours, prints and shapes relevant to the teen market.
  • Creating high-quality, detailed technical packs to support clear factory communication.
  • Producing CADs and supporting the creation of polished presentations for internal and client meetings.
  • Completing regular competitor shopping and customer store reports to maintain strong market awareness.
  • Briefing overseas production teams and factories, responding to queries and helping to drive developments forward.
  • Tracking the progress of samples and developments, chasing updates and ensuring timelines remain aligned with critical paths.
  • Supporting the day-to-day organisation of samples and general design administration.

Person specification:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a fashion design role, ideally across girls woven and jersey products
  • Experience designing for large-volume retailers, supermarkets or similar commercial accounts is highly desirable.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating commercial awareness and a clear understanding of trend direction for the teen market.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive and collaborative approach.
