A rare opportunity has arisen for our client a ladieswear brand who are looking for an experienced Design Manager to lead their knitwear design team.
In this role you will drive innovation, quality, and create design concepts across knitwear collections. This role requires a someone with good technical understanding of knitwear , combined with strong leadership skills.

Managing a small team of knitwear designers on a day-to-day basis , couples with working closely with Buyers, Directors and Sales Managers this is an exciting role suitable for an existing Design manager, Head of Design or Senior Designer with management responsibilities ready for the next stage in their career . Knowledge of working and travel to overseas factories in the Far East and Bangladesh is essential for this role

Main Responsibilities will include:

• Lead the design and development of seasonal knitwear collections from initial concept through to final samples
• Provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to a team of Designers
• Translate creative direction and market trends into innovative and commercially viable knitwear designs
• Ensure high technical standards are met across all designs, including construction, fit, and finishing
• Oversee yarn selection, stitch development, and technical specification creation
• Manage the design calendar and critical path to meet all deadlines
• Travel as needed for yarn sourcing, factory visits, and trend research
• Maintain awareness of sustainable practices and implement relevant initiatives in yarn and process selection
• Present concepts, storyboards, and final collections to internal stakeholders and buying teams

Person Specifications:

• Previous experience in a senior ladies' knitwear design role with managerial experience
• Previous experience working for a Supplier, Retailer or Brand
• Strong technical knowledge of knitwear
• Excellent understanding of trend forecasting
• Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop a creative tea
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Experience working directly with suppliers and international factories
