Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing, design-led fashion company who are seeking an Assistant Designer to work across girlswear.

This role is a brilliant entry point for someone with early experience who wants to build strong foundations in girlswear across both knit and woven categories, working closely with an experienced Design Manager in a fast-moving, hands-on environment.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Girlswear Design Manager with the development of commercially relevant product across multiple categories
  • Assisting with seasonal catwalk and trend research, keeping the team up to date with key themes, colours, prints and shapes.
  • Translating briefs and trend direction into sellable designs.
  • Creating high-quality, detailed technical packs.
  • Producing CADs and helping to build strong, polished presentations for internal and client meetings.
  • Completing regular competitor shopping and customer store reports.
  • Briefing overseas production teams and factories, responding to questions and driving developments forward to ensure strong samples are delivered on time.
  • Tracking progress on samples and developments, chasing updates, and keeping critical paths moving in line with client expectations.
  • Preparing and sending clear meeting recaps and notes to internal stakeholders and clients to confirm actions and deadlines.
  • Supporting day-to-day sample administration.

Person specifications:

  • Previous design experience ideally across girlswear or casual knit product such as tees and sweats.
  • A strong portfolio with clear commercial awareness and a good eye for trend direction.
  • Confident producing detailed tech packs and briefing offshore teams.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, plus comfortable with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
