Job description

This role supports the day-to-day finance operations of a fast-paced fashion company in Watford, ensuring accurate and timely processing of purchase ledger and banking activities across multiple currencies. The position is responsible for maintaining AP and nominal ledgers, preparing weekly payment runs and cash flow reports, and supporting month-end and VAT processes. Working closely with internal teams and external suppliers, the role plays a key part in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting ERP system reporting, and ensuring smooth financial operations within a dynamic, commercial environment.

Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Manage daily bank statement checks and cashbook updates across multiple currencies, including posting and allocating incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Process purchase ledger invoices and credits, retrieving documentation from supplier portals and emails, coding to trial balance accounts in SAGE 200, and verifying VAT accuracy.
  • Maintain AP and nominal ledgers, including reconciliations, spreadsheets, reports, and ensuring invoices match purchase orders and GRNs.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs and cash flow forecasts, uploading payments via the bank's online banking system.
  • Ensure all financial documents are authorised in line with company procedures, proactively liaising with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Support month-end and compliance processes, including VAT preparation, fixed asset register maintenance, staff expense processing, and intercompany invoicing.
  • Produce ad-hoc financial and operational reports and carry out ERP system procedures (STYLEman), including debtors and stock reporting, while maintaining accurate digital and physical records.


Person Specifications:

  • AAT fully qualified or part qualified ACCA or CIMA
  • Minimum 3 years including financial accounting and preferably with some experience in a firm of chartered accountants.
  • Experience in using SAGE 200 or equivalent accounting package.
  • Experience in using ERP System, Excel (minimum VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables).
  • Experience in working to strict deadlines, attention to detail and ability to work with other members of the team.
