Job Description

An exciting new role for our client who is an extremely successful, established clothing manufacturer with offices in Manchester, London, Hong Kong and Bangladesh. This is a new role within their design team based in their Manchester office, where you will be responsible for mens and boys knitwear design, supplying to some of the biggest retailers in the UK.
They are looking for a strong mens and boys knitwear designer with a commercial outlook who has indepth experience of the UK retail market and is looking for a new and exciting challenge for the growing demand working closely with buyers briefs. Primark is their main UK customer as well as Inditex, Forever 21 and other clients throughout Europe, USA and Canada.


Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Strong interpretation of trends into commercial designs

  • Gathering & using relevant internal and external information to drive product and range development for the customer

  • Developing seasonal in-house collection which will fit into our customer base

  • Following product development through with PD teams

  • Constantly developing newness and emerging trends

  • Responsible for hand drawing specs produced by hand

  • Ability to work independently and manage product development oversea

  • Ability to present product to clients and conduct customer meetings independently

Person specification:

  • At least 3 years of Knitwear mens /boys experience

  • An understanding and passion for emerging trends

  • Knowledge of CAD would be beneficial

  • Experience working with Bangladesh suppliers

  • Appetite for design influences and strong eye

  • Ability to work under own initiative

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently at all levels

  • Ability to work under pressure and with strong personalities

  • Good teamwork and inter-personal skills

  • Yarn and construction knowledge
