Job description

My client is a well-established UK & European ladies' supplier to leading retailers. This role would suit a junior or mid-level designer looking to take the next step in their career within a fast-paced, trend-led environment.

You’ll be part of a small, collaborative team of like-minded designers, working on a variety of exciting accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for commercial products, an awareness of the latest trends, and the confidence to contribute fresh ideas. Previous Supplier Experience preferred.

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Research and interpret trends to design commercial, on-brand collections tailored to each retailer’s customer.

  • Create and present mood boards, range concepts, and product ideas to buyers and design teams.

  • Coordinate product development with Far East factories, ensuring all samples are delivered on time for range sign-off meetings.

  • Liaise daily with UK-based sales and technical teams to support development and production processes.

  • Develop and source new fabrics, yarns, and trims to enhance collections.

  • Produce accurate and detailed CAD drawings for sampling, both for in-house ranges and bespoke customer requests.

  • Carry out market research and attend trade and trend prediction fairs to stay ahead of emerging fashion movements.

  • Guide customers and buyers on market trends and product direction.

Person Specification:

  • Experience as a knitwear designer with a strong, commercial handwriting.

  • Confident presentation skills, with the ability to communicate design concepts clearly to customers.

  • Excellent understanding of garment construction and the ability to create accurate spec drawings.

  • Proven experience working with Far East factories and suppliers.

  • Strong CAD skills with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Great attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
