Job description
We are working with a leading end-to-end apparel manufacturer who are looking for a Head of Product Development to lead the Product Development function based in Sri Lanka.
They currently have a focus on driving strategic growth across a global customer base (especially UK/Europe). This role requires strong credibility with UK/European retail markets and deep expertise in design/product development.
This is a full time position based in Sri Lanka.
Main responsibilities will include:
Own and evolve the product development strategy in line with commercial goals.
Analyse product trends and customer needs; identifying new business opportunities and supporting growth.
Lead seasonal and ongoing development from concept through bulk; overseeing the full product lifecycle.
Balancing creative quality with manufacturability, quality and margin targets; driving innovation in fabric while staying ahead of industry and consumer trends.
Mentoring and developing the product development team; implementing clear workflows, SOPs and performance standards.
Building strong collaboration across design (onshore/offshore), merchandising and manufacturing; partnering effectively with senior leadership, customers and suppliers.
Manage budgets and timelines, apply strong analytical and negotiation skills; using data and insight to evaluate performance and refine product strategies.
Person specification:
Previous experience within a UK or European retailer and / or a strategic supplier to major UK/EU retailers.
Expertise in womenswear, menswear or childrenswear across fashion, ideally causalwear.
Strong knowledge of garment construction and the manufacturing process; ideally with an established network of relevant customer contacts.
Confident leading teams, setting standards and working cross-functionally.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
