Job description

We are looking for a highly skilled Part-Time / Freelance Senior Designer with a strong background in premium activewear to support a growing fashion company. This role will help define and elevate their product offering across performance and lifestyle categories, bringing together technical innovation, modern aesthetics and a deep understanding of the activewear customer.

You will lead design projects from concept through to final samples on a flexible basis, providing senior-level expertise while collaborating seamlessly with internal and external partners.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop seasonal activewear concepts, mood boards and colour/print stories aligned with brand positioning.
  • Translate brand and market insight into clear, commercial and elevated design directions.
  • Design premium activewear collections (e.g. leggings, sports bras, tops, outerwear, shorts, accessories) with a focus on fit, function and style.
  • Create detailed sketches and tech packs suitable for development.
  • Attend in-person fittings as needed, providing expert feedback on fit, movement and feel.
  • Monitor global activewear trends, innovations in performance materials and construction, and shifts in consumer behaviour.
  • Conduct competitor reviews to ensure the brand remains differentiated and relevant in the premium space.
  • Feed insights back into design proposals and range planning.
  • Integrate sustainable materials and responsible design decisions wherever possible, aligned with brand values.

Person specification:

  • Significant experience fashion design with a clear focus on premium performance activewear.
  • Distinct, modern design aesthetic suited to premium activewear and athleisure.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong appreciation for quality, comfort and function.
  • Strong understanding of performance fabrics, components and construction techniques specific to activewear.
  • High level of proficiency in design tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop; 3D design/PLM systems a plus).
  • Solid technical understanding of fit, grading and garment construction for active categories.
  • Experience working in a freelance or consultancy capacity, comfortable managing your own time and workload.
