Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for a talented Design Manager to join a leading UK womenswear supplier, renowned for delivering multi-product collections to major high street retailers and supermarkets. This role provides the perfect opportunity to lead, inspire, and drive creative excellence within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Our client is looking for a highly creative, commercial, and trend-focused Soft Wovens Design Manager with a proven background in the young to mid-market sector. You'll bring a confident, modern handwriting style and a deep understanding of soft woven product areas, with the ability to design successfully for volume retail accounts. Previous experience working with supermarkets and leading high-street brands is highly advantageous. This is an exciting role for a driven design leader who combines flair, vision, and strong commercial acumen, looking to join a forward-thinking supplier to some of the UK's best-known retailers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the design direction across ladieswear multi-product categories, from concept and trend research through to final product development.
  • Work closely with and report to the Design Director.
  • Develop seasonal mood boards, trend stories, colour palettes, and capsule collections.
  • Research, source, and develop innovative fabrics, trims, and new design ideas.
  • Present clear and compelling design concepts to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Partner with sales and buying teams to deliver well-balanced, commercial collections tailored to each customer.
  • Attend fabric shows and inspirational shopping trips to identify new opportunities and drive creativity.
  • Oversee CADs, tech packs, and ensure all design outputs meet the highest standard of quality.
  • Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of designers at varying levels.

Person Specification:

  • A solid background in womens soft wovens is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for young to mid-market womenswear across high-street or volume accounts.
  • Distinctive, trend-driven handwriting combined with strong commercial awareness.
  • Excellent CAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, and presentation skills.
  • Confident communicator with experience presenting directly to customers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • A collaborative team player with a genuine passion for fashion and product innovation.
