Job Description

I am seeking an Area Manager for the South of Germany, covering Stuggart, Munich and Frankfurt, for my client who is a luxury cosmetic company specialising in Make-up, Skincare and Fragrance. Established for over 25 years this company has a modern, on trend and confidence inspiring lead ethos. They are at the forefront of the makeup industry working with the world's A-list models, celebrities and designers.


Main responsibilities will include:

  • Motivate and inspire the team to deliver and exceed their targets and KPIs
  • Accountable for the retail forecasts and performance for the area
  • Set clear and consistent direction which reflects business-wide priorities, and the local requirements of the region; follow-up to ensure delivery against expectations set
  • Identify opportunities to drive brand awareness and market share within the area
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to unlock opportunities
  • Successfully launching new products in the market and maintain momentum
  • Work with the commercial team to shape the P&L of the region, from driving retail performance, to availability, through to investment choices, to deliver the best possible return on investment
  • Build High-Performing Teams to Achieve Retail and Service Expectations
  • Identify and recruit industry-leading talent; working collaboratively with Recruitment, Store Leadership, and talent pooling to minimise time to hire
  • Use appraisal process to formally evaluate performance, set objectives, and identify training needs across the region
  • Maintain a regular skill scan of the team to identify high potential and performance challenges; implement development and improvement
  • Proactive Cost Management
  • Monitor, manage, and invest staffing resource to deliver the best possible return on investment
  • Maintain close management of Travel and expense costs within the area, ensuring that all costs are required by the business, meet the required approvals, tracked in the reports provided
  • Develop and deliver against the service strategy, maintaining service excellence across the area
  • Work in close partnership with Area trainer aligning on strategy to deliver the best results
  • Continuously work and support on the development of direct reports team to build a high performing team of business managers.
  • Provide regular insight into local competitor activity and retail environment
  • Support the preparation of forecasts and NPD expectations for the area
  • Recommend realistic operational and service led improvements to influence positive impact on customer service in all stores
  • Manage and improve stock efficiency & inventory challenges by close contact with local stockroom managers and Customer supply chain


Person specification:

  • Proven track record in a similar field management or multi-site role
  • People manager experience and passionate about developing teams
  • Strong ability to turn (Head office) plans into operational action suiting regional needs
  • Strong ability to adapt to change
  • Positive mindset that is solution driven and able to influence others
  • Pro-active and a self-starter that knows to find the right people within the organisation and does not wait until things come their way
