Assistant Garment Technologist - Ladies Jersey

Job Description

My client is a very well-established business seeking an Assistant Garment Technologist to join them to meet the growing demands of their jersey department. They manufacture for many high street retailers and supermarkets and is a wonderful company to work for, offering progression and growth opportunities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Measuring samples, checking the construction and quality of the garments including fabric quality, colours and print
  • Risk assessment of all products for safety, compliance to global legislations, fabric and trim suitability in relation to construction and functionality
  • Assisting fit sessions alongside Senior Tech
  • Providing notes, comments and diagrams on workbooks, sending to suppliers on daily basis, at proto and production stage
  • Ensuring consistency of fit and grading across multiple products Womenswear
  • Keeping production CP up to date
  • Ensuring that the products follow all safety standards and meet minimum requirements on testing
  • Arranging for product testing to be carried out when required
  • Liaising and communicating closely with the wider team including buying, design and merchandising
  • Assisting with the review of submissions sent from the factories including bulk fabric and print submissions
  • Supporting garment technologist team with any daily administrative tasks

Person Specification:

  • A minimum of 1 years' experience within a similar role working with jersey garments
  • A degree or equivalent in clothing technology or manufacture/ fashion
  • IT skills -Ms office (Word, Excel, etc), MS Outlook, Teams
  • Be a quick learner
  • Must have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, have attention to detail & be a strong team player is crucial
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to communicate and interact with internal and external business partners across UK, Europe and the Rest of the World
  • Knowledge of pattern cutting, grading and construction would be advantageous
