A production-based role within the fashion/retail industry is to manage the order process (or critical path) from the moment an order is placed This can range from a Merchandiser, Production Assistant/Coordinator or more senior Operational positions. The premiss is the same, once an order is placed this individual must work to fulfill it. This means placing orders with the factories, fabric mills, etc and the Merchandiser/Production Coordinator will manage and track the order through to delivery. They will be responsible for approving lab dips and negotiating lead times and delivering the good in good time. To get a job in fashion as a Merchandiser or Production Assistant you will need to be an experienced Administrator.
