Research has shown that 87% of recruiters are using LinkedIn to source for candidates. 

 

If you are looking for a new job and haven’t got a Linkedin profile then you need to get one! 48% of all job openings posted on Linkedin are never posted anywhere else. So by not using Linkedin you could be missing out on opportunities to find your dream job. Once you have got started on Linkedin, it’s time to complete as much as possible on your profile to insure a great first impression.

 

Serial Entrepreneur and Author James Cann highlights’ the importance of the first impression on Linkedin:

 

A complete LinkedIn profile speaks volumes about the person’s level of professionalism. A completed LinkedIn profile can indicate to recruiters that this person has the complete package. If someone who just graduated from university has a professional photo and completed profile, this would indicate to me that this person is an up-and-comer and go-getter. These individuals get the importance of brand – essential to any role in any company

 

Once you have completed your profile and uploaded a recent and appropriate head shot of yourself, (You're seven times more likely to have your profile viewed if you have a photo). Be sure to join some groups and follow companies that are relevant to the industry you are looking to get a job in or currently work in. This will mean you are able to see their job opportunities and recent posts on your time line, making it easy to apply.
