Our client is a dynamic and rapidly expanding fashion supplier based in Manchester, seeking a meticulous and part-qualified Senior Accounts person to join their growing finance team. The ideal candidate will have approximately one year from qualification, a solid understanding of nominal ledger and cash accounts, and experience with sales and purchase ledgers, preferably wholesale/import .This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting our expansion efforts.
Main responsibilities will include:
Accounts Management: Oversee and maintain nominal ledger accounts and cash accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Prepare and review financial statements and reports.
Transaction Processing: Manage accounts payable and receivable transactions. Verify invoices, process payments, and handle collections of outstanding invoices.
Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvement.
Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of financial transactions. Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Audit Support: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Implement audit recommendations to enhance financial controls.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, company policies, and accounting principles. Stay updated on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
Team Support: Assist and provide guidance to junior accounts clerks. Review their work for accuracy and support their development.
System Management: Utilise accounting software and systems effectively. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Communication: Collaborate with various departments to address financial queries and provide support.
Liaise with vendors, clients, and financial institutions as required.
Person specification:
Part-qualified accountant with approximately one year from qualification.
Experience in accounting, with a solid understanding of nominal ledger and cash accounts.
Experience with sales and purchase ledgers is essential.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle). Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
An interest or background in the fashion industry is advantageous.
