We are partnering with a successful and fast-growing fashion business known for delivering trend-led, high-quality knitwear collections to leading retailers and global customers. We are looking for an experienced and creative Freelance Knitwear Designer to join the team on a project basis, bringing fresh ideas and technical expertise to seasonal ranges.
This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative, fashion-forward knitwear across womenswear contributing to both design direction and product development.
This role is fairly flexible and has a view of being 2-3 days a week for a few months.
Main Responsibilities will include:
Research and interpret seasonal trends to create inspiring knitwear concepts.
Develop original knitwear designs in line with brand identity and target customer.
Produce detailed CADs, technical packs, and stitch layouts for sampling and production.
Select yarns, stitches, and trims with a focus on quality, cost, and sustainability.
Liaise closely with factories and suppliers to ensure design accuracy and on-time delivery.
Work collaboratively with the buying, technical, and merchandising teams to ensure commercial viability of the range.
Person Specification:
Proven experience as a Knitwear Designer within a fashion brand, supplier, or retailer.
Strong technical knowledge of yarns, stitches, and knitwear construction.
Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and relevant design software.
Excellent trend awareness with the ability to balance creativity and commerciality.
Strong communication and organisational skills, able to work independently to deadlines.
