Job Description

We have an amazing role for an Assistant Designer to work for a leading UK supplier on their Menswear team.

Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Conducting necessary research and product/season analysis to help create seasonal mood boards and trends to present to customers
  • Assisting with designing and building commercial outerwear ranges for specific retailers & understanding their end consumer
  • Producing accurate and detailed CAD drawings on Adobe Illustrator to an industry standard for sampling under supervision to be sent to factories overseas for sampling
  • Creating and maintaining the fabric and trim libraries, as well as ordering fabrics/trims with nominated suppliers and uploading all fabric orders onto the internal booking system
  • Working with sales/technical teams to help ensure end products are commercially viable, and in-line with customer requirements
  • Accountable for photographing and tracking buyer's selections, preparing follow up meeting notes and buyer range plans and creating PDFs
  • Checking / pressing / hanging / photographing and referencing all incoming and bought samples, uploading these onto the SAP accounting system
  • Organising and managing the sampling and store rooms to ensure ease of access to include photography and logging all incoming and outgoing development samples
  • Creating and maintaining style spreadsheets, to include chasing makers for updates and ensuring they meet deadlines
  • Briefing overseas team 3D CAD projects to support customer development

Person Specifications:

  • Degree or HND in fashion design (or equivalent) with interest to pursue a career within fashion design & previous experience in a menswear assistant designer role or similar
  • Good CAD skills with a good knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Understanding of fabric and trim bases would be ideal
  • Highly organised and capable of working to and managing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong team player with ability to work on own initiative
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with strong prioritisation skills and accuracy critical
