Job Description
I am seeking an Area Manager based in Berlin, Germany for my client who is a luxury cosmetic company specialising in Make-up, Skincare and Fragrance. Established for over 25 years this company has a modern, on trend and confidence inspiring lead ethos. They are at the forefront of the makeup industry working with the world's A-list models, celebrities and designers.
Main responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for leading a defined area of stores to deliver retail and service expectations through inspirational leadership, commercial acumen, striving for excellence, creating a culture, and delivering against profit objectives.
- Accountable for the retail forecasts and performance for the area
- Identify and execute opportunities to drive brand awareness, performance and market share within the area
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Operational Marketing, Commercial, and Store Leaders to unlock opportunities for the brand
- Set standards across the estate for executional excellence, supporting the development of processes and working cross-functionally to improve brand presentation and NPD moments in store
- Work with the commercial team to shape the P&L of the region, from driving retail performance, to availability, through to investment choices, to deliver the best possible return on investment
- Build High-Performing Teams to Achieve Retail and Service Expectations
- Develop and deliver against the service strategy, maintaining service excellence across the area
- Work in close partnership with Area trainer aligning on strategy to delivery the best results
- Provide regular insight into competitor activity and retail environment to influence commercial activity and planning with the retailers
- Support the preparation of forecasts and NPD expectations for the area
- Work efficiently with Operational Marketing
- Recommend realistic operational and service led improvements to influence positive impact on customer service in all stores
- Manage and improve stock efficiency; flagging any inventory challenges and working with the Stockroom manager, National Accounts team and Customer supply chain to optimise supply
- HR team to proactively manage any ER issues in the region and support the training of Business Managers to lead all ER in their own teams
- Proactive Cost Management
- Be accountable for the overall shape of the region P&L, including delivery of retail and all cost centres: staffing, T&S, testers/samples
- Monitor, manage, and invest staffing resource to deliver the best possible return on investment
- Maintain close management of T&S expenditure within the area,
Person specification:
- Previous experience in a similar field management or multi-site role, with proven experience of building talent and managing P&Ls
- Established relationships with department stores
- Experience within a Premium/ luxury brand
- Passionate about the beauty industry
- Fluent English and German
- Must be able to travel in country and abroad when necessary
- Strong people focus; passionate about developing teams
- Target-focused and results-driven
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills
- Effective communicator, both written and verbal
- Excellent presentation skills and classroom delivery
