I am looking for a Junior Garment Technologist to join a really lovely and very successful supplier based in Essex. My client is a supplier to several leading retailers and supermarkets in the UK and specialise in Baby and Childrenswear licensed product. They have a strong business and are experiencing significant growth.
The successful candidate will have worked as an Assistant or Junior garment technologist and will have an interest or understanding of baby/childrenswear or licensed product. Training is offered on the job around specific baby and childrenswear technical requirements. Relevant supplier or retail experience is preferred. You will be required to liaise with technical colleagues and designers as well as factories and you will need to be confident in meetings. You will be involved in overseeing the product all the way through the process, joining critical path meetings, and overseeing license approvals and packaging. This is a very interesting role working in a supportive team with lovely product.
Main Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Responsible for the approval of garments and advising on all aspects of fit, grading, construction, and quality-related issues.
  • Collaboration with customers and colleagues.
  • Attending fit meetings and working with overseas factories to communicate next steps, issues and priorities.
  • Creating size specifications and technical packs for factories.
  • Working closely within the internal design, sampling, and sales, teams, and developing strong working relationships with customers' own technical teams.
  • Liaise regularly with customers regarding fit comments, specs/requirements
  • Communicate all the information to offshore factories.
  • Critical path management packaging and approvals process


Person Specification

  • Experienced a Junior or Assistant Garment technologist
  • Confident in meetings
  • Experience of working with or for High Street Multiples/Supermarkets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of working with factories overseas.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to key deadlines on the Critical Path
  • Commercial and collaborative
  • A great team player who enjoys working with others
  • Keen to learn and develop
