Job Description
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for my client a fashion-forward jersey supplier to several High Street fashion retailers covering licensed and fashion who are looking for an experienced Design Manager to cover men's and boyswear leading a team of existing designers. The role will be design and client-centric overseeing the team as well as presenting at all meetings with buyers and guiding the direction of the product to meet different client's needs. You will need to have a strong proven background from a supplier or retail background in a managerial role within fashion-forward jersey .
Main duties will include
- Create and develop product designs tailored to the company's portfolio of customers
- Analyse and report on catwalk shows highlighting key trends
- Creating on-trend, forward-thinking yet commercial men's and boyswear designs keeping in line with the buyer's brief
- Manage a team of designers
- Price negotiation, budgets, and forecast
- Fabric development and sourcing
- Travel to shows and comp shops when permitted
Person Specification
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to work closely with, and influence buyers
- Proven Managerial and leadership qualities
- To be at Design manager/ Head of level already within menswear
- Knowledge of boys wear advantages
- Strong jersey design background within menswear
- Supplier or retail experience within young fast fashion
- A strong understanding of the current high street
- Must have good CAD and illustration skills
- Effective communicator at all levels
- Experience in presenting ideas through design boards
